Anointing of the Sick

The sacrament of the anointing of the sick can be administered to a member of the faithful who, after having reached the use of reason, begins to be in danger of death due to sickness or old age.

Parishioners who find themselves or their loved ones in these circumstances are urged to call Fr. Landry as soon as hospice arrives or the person begins to fail. Since he is the only full-time priest assigned to St. Anthony's, and cannot always be in the rectory ready to receive an anointing call, parishioners should never wait until the last moments to call.

If you or a loved one is presently in a need of the sacrament of the anointing of the sick urgently, please call 508.993.1691 x95, and follow the instructions carefully. You should under normal circumstances receive a return call very quickly. In the rare circumstances that one does not come, please call the priests at a nearby parish to make sure that you our your loved one receives this sacrament.

The sacrament of the anointing of the sick can be repeated whenever the sick person again falls into a serious sickness after convalescence or whenever a more serious crisis develops during the same sickness.
